Why can’t I get tickets for an event?
We know how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to get tickets and miss out — especially for popular shows.
For many events, there are far more people trying to buy tickets than there are tickets available. This means they can sell out very quickly, and unfortunately not everyone will be able to secure one.
Below is a selection of our most frequently asked questions about purchasing General Admission, and Accessible Tickets.
How do ticket sales work?
Tickets are usually released in stages.
- Pre-sales (like O2 Priority or artist pre-sales) give early access to some tickets
- General sale is when tickets are made available to a wider audience
Pre-sales can sell out quickly, but there may still be more tickets released later during the general sale.
What happens when I join the queue?
When tickets go on sale, lots of people try to book at the same time.
You might be placed in a queue before you can access tickets — this is normal.
However, being in the queue doesn’t guarantee there will still be tickets available when it’s your turn.
Why did tickets disappear while I was booking?
Tickets aren’t secured until your payment goes through, so:
- someone else may complete their booking first
- tickets may disappear while you're selecting them
- availability is updating constantly in the background
What’s the best way to book tickets?
Booking online is the only way to purchase General Admission tickets.
What if I am booking Accessible Tickets?
In the first instance, please visit our FAQ page on Booking Accessible Tickets.
If you need support, you can:
- use the accessible booking options online, or
- get in touch with our Access Team if you have a +2 symbol on your card, or you are unable to purchase Accessible Tickets online.
In some cases, we may need a bit of extra information to make sure you’re getting the most suitable option.
Why is it harder to get tickets for some events?
For high-demand events, things move quickly.
- tickets can sell out shortly after going on sale
- availability can change in seconds
- phone lines and contact channels are often much busier than usual
Will more tickets be released?
Sometimes, yes — but not always.
Occasionally, more tickets become available closer to the event, and you may also find tickets through official resale.
What can you help with?
We’re always happy to help with:
- accessibility support (subject to event availability)
- guidance on how the booking process works
What can’t you help with?
There are a few things we’re not able to do:
- reserve tickets
- access additional ticket availability
- amend existing General Admission orders
- change what’s available during the booking process
